2/7/14: 2014-15 Flagship RAM Application Deadline

The URI Chinese Flagship Program seeks an upperclass Flagship student to serve as the Flagship RAM in the Chinese Living & Learning Community in Hillside Hall during the 2014-15 Academic Year.

Are you an academic leader in the Chinese Flagship Program?
Would you like to help first year students succeed?
Then apply to be Residential Academic Mentor (RAM)!

RAM Applications Due: February 7, 2014 by 12:00 noon.

Flagship RAM Interviews will be conducted on Monday, February 24.
RAM Offers will be made on Monday, March 11.
Flagship RAM Compensation will be equivalent to the cost of academic year housing.

  • FGS invites applications from any level of student with a 2.5+ GPA who is planning to participate in a program abroad, including for a short-term/summer, semester, or year abroad, or a service-learning, internship, or research experience. In addition to the general Foundation for Global Scholars Scholarship, the Foundation awards Financial Need Scholarships (for Pell Grant recipients), STEM Scholarships (for students majoring in the sciences, technology, engineering, or math), and Ethnically Diverse Student Scholarships.

Fund for Education Abroad (FEA) Scholarship Opportunities - Deadline January 17

Up to $10,000 is available for academic year study. U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible for funding.

A great fit for many Flagship students for the following reasons:

Scholarship goals include:
  • Assisting committed students in the acquisition of critical foreign language skills
  • Cultivating American students' world awareness and appreciation of cultural differences through academic and experiential opportunities

Preferences for:


  • Study abroad programs known for academic rigor and immersion elements
  • Language study
  • Non-traditional study abroad destinations
  • Underrepresented populations (broadly defined)
  • Financial need
There are also dedicated Scholarships for several populations:
